A week of sketches and a deal I made with myself

Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a relaxing, stamping filled weekend. I got to spend ALL day Saturday in my stamp cave and got so much done! I decided to go online, find some sketches and stamp away! I'll be sharing all of my sketch creations with you this week.

The first sketch I decided to play with was this one from Splitcoast.

I decided to challenge myself and use a set that I haven't touched in a loooong time AND one that didn't require coloring. I've been in a coloring phase lately and decided to switch things up a bit - just for today.

Here's what I came up with... Remember an old set from SU called "Terrific Tulips"? My Aunt and her family own a business called Holland Acres, so naturally this set was a must have for me.

For this one, I stamped out "French Script" on a piece of Pink Pirouette for the background piece. The two strips on top of that layer are Very Vanilla (that was cuttlebugged), a scalloped border of Pink Pirouette and a strip of pink ribbon.

The main image was supposed to be stamped on Very Vanilla. Apparently I grabbed Whisper White instead and by the time I realized it, I was NOT about to start over. I decided to embellish with some Very Vanilly butterflies that I punched with my Martha punch and then finished it off with some Stickles.

So....in the title for todays post, I said that I made a deal with myself.
Here's the deal...I play along with SO many sketch challenges each month and get lots of cards done that way. What if I created a Christmas themed card in addition to my "regular" card for EVERY sketch challenge that I do? Wouldn't it be amazing to NOT be freaking out on December 1st and dreading the fact that I have to bust out 100+ holiday cards?

So, without further ado.
Here's my first Christmas card for 2009 using the sketch from the beginning of this post. (Image by Whipper Snapper)
Oh scrap - what have I gotten myself into?!
Thanks for stopping by for a visit today. I'll be back tomorrow with another sketch.
Hugs,

  1. What a fantastic idea!! (Xmas) I've got to get myself out of the idea that all the Xmas cards have to be the SAME!!! And I loved seeing "Terrific Tulips" again . l. .made the spring fever even worse!! Thanks for sharing! Janice

  2. What an awesome idea! I've been challenging myself to make 4 Christmas cards per month, but doing it your way would get SO much for done!!! TFS your terrific idea.
