Struck by the cooties....

My husband and the kiddos have each had their turn getting sick over the last couple of weeks and I've been SO careful to not get even one cootie on me. Because we all know that if Mom gets sick, the whole house falls apart - am I right?
Well, I guess it was finally my turn. I spent the whole weekend in bed with my pile of kitties. On the bright side, all of the rest I got gave me a chance to start this new book.

Oh my gosh - I LOVE this book!
I've been vegetarian for 22 years now and have been thinking of going vegan for about a year. It's kind of a huge step for me to take, because I married Mr Meat & Potatoes. I cook every meal from scratch and use mostly organic products, but I do need to feed my man, so I make a meat dish for him every night also. This book is definitely showing me that the transition won't be too crazy and there are bunches of DELICIOUS recipes in this book that even Mr Meat & Potatoes will enjoy!

Okay, enough about me.
Here's a quick card that I wanted to share with you today. I made it weeks ago, but never got around to posting it.

This is "Skater Ian"...
I used some retired SU patterned paper with Soft Suede cardstock for this one. The sentiment is a rub on by Making Memories and I thought it was a nice generic greeting that could be used for several different occasions. After I colored this cutie in with my Copics, I cut him out and added buttons for the wheels on his skateboard.

That's it for me today. I'm going to crawl back into bed. I'll be back tomorrow!

Mer Ian...

I'm sure most of you know about all of the digital fun going on at The Greeting Farm this week. Since many of my lucky readers are busy traveling to CHA this week, I thought it would be fun to goof off this week and play along.

The first image that they provided was Mer Ian...
Now, to be honest, I really wasn't crazy about the image when I first saw it. I mean...girl mermaids are totally cute, but boy ones? I dunno.....kind of tricky for me. I decided to keep the image small and the card super simple.
I popped up his hair on dimensionals and added lots of glitter to his tail.

This cute rub on sentiment is by October Afternoon. I thought it worked perfectly for this card. Have you been playing along? I'd love to see what you came up with using this image.

Ian Laddie

We had a cold and rainy weekend here in California. Perfect stamping weather. Here's a quick one that I put together for my hubby's golf buddy. I thought Ian Laddie would be perfect. And check out those brads.
Don't they look just like golf balls?!

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long

Today is challenge day over at CSAYL!
Todays challenge is a sketch...

I know I say this all the time, but I just LOVE Maria's sketches!
Here's what I came up with this week... This is the card my hubs and I will give to our son this Christmas. The main image is called "Birthday Boy Ian" by The Greeting Farm, but I think it works for Christmas too. The striped pattern paper is from SU's "Ski Slope" collection from last year, which I paired up with Real Red, Baha Breeze, Chocolate Chip and Kiwi Kiss cardstocks.


I clear embossed some snowflakes from "Polar Pals" on the background behind Ian and then popped him up on dimensionals.
This was a great sketch to work with!

The pressure is on now!

One of my favorite friends in the whole world got to sneak off without me and take a Copic class in San Francisco a couple of months ago - I know....can you believe she went without me?! Ever since then, she's been *WOWING* me with her little colored creations. Now the pressure is on for me to practice my coloring skills until the next Copic class comes around!

I also added a sentiment from Hambo and a worm from SU's "Cute As A Bug" set.

And since I was working with a sketch today, I also whipped up a Christmas card in under 10 minutes!

Obviously nothing fancy here, I used Pacific Point for the base and images from SU's "Polar Pals" set. The patterned papers are also Pacific Point and the felt snowflake was from the last Winter mini catalog. Easy Peasy!

Greeting Farm Cuties

Have you ever gone to a website just to purchase a particular item, then find out that item is out of stock, but since you're in a "shopping mood" you make an impulse purchase?
Skater Ian was a total impulse buy for me. I never wanted him, as adorable as he may be, he just never really caught my eye. Well....until Geisha Anya was sold out, then I took a second look at him. And now I'm smitten.... I always have a tough time making cards for boys but this one came together so quick! I used Close to Cocoa cardstock to make a 5 1/2" square base. Then I used some teal patterned paper from SU and a green pattern from the Kim Hughes Mocha Chica pack. I used a spiral punch on the left side of the green paper and paired up the main image with a great sentiment from Hambo. The stars on the base cardstock are from the SU set "Just Jawing".
After I colored this adorable little guy with my Copics, I cut him out and added black eyelets for the wheels on his skateboard. I know this is a boy card, but I just HAD to add some ribbon and glitter. The little star on Ian's shirt has some "swimming pool" Doodlebug Sugar Coating.

Here's another quick one I made with some "Dress Me" images that my buddy Gloria stamped out and sent to me.

I used another Hambo sentiment on this one.
