Inky Challenge

In addition to day 2 of  the Inky Impressions blog hop, today is also challenge day!  This week we worked with an inspiration photo of fall leaves and this is what I came up with...

I used some fall papers by Imaginisce a sentiment by Inky Impressions.

I finished it off with some tiny leaves and a couple of Inky Dinky Drops.

It's Pumpkin Time

It's Inky Challenge time again and this week we're going Trick-Or-Treating. We want you to make a Halloween card and utilize the colors orange and black. Here's what I came up with using the "Lili's Pumpkin" image.


I stamped the sentiment in white ink, punched it with an small oval and added a silver pumpkin charm. I glued some orange cardstock to the back of the charm so the jack-o-lantern details would *pop*.

The layout was inspired by this sketch and the patterns that I picked were inspired by the "Spooky Hues" challenge at Papertake Weekly. To ground the main image, I drew in some fall colored grass and sponged on some clouds in the background.

I finished it all off with some clear Inky Dinky Drops.

Inky Inspiration

Today I have a quick and easy project to share with you. Quick and easy projects are the best!  And they definitely come in handy when I need to make goodies for my kiddos and their 54 classmates.

Here's a Halloween / Fall inspired candy holder.

I used some patterned paper scraps with Fall colors and then added Lili to the front.  Then I wrapped some striped twine around a few times to finish it off.

If you use the following dimensions, you'll be able to get 4 of these babies out of one sheet of 8 1/2" 11" cardstock!

Cut a strip of cardstock to 2" x 10 1/4".

Score at 4" and fold.

Easy-Peasy!

If you wanted to put in something larger, like a candy bar, just increase the 2" width.

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long

It's finally Friday and that means a new challenge from CSAYL! This week, the challenge is to use stripes on your card. Our fabulous sponsor is In Style Stamps and they are generously donating some digital images to one lucky winner!Since I wasn't able to participate last week, I decided to use TWO images on my card today to redeem myself. Meet William and Virginia...

Obviously I decided to mix things up a bit and make a Thanksgiving card instead of a Christmas one. William and Virginia were just sooo cute and I couldn't resist! I shrunk down the girl image a bit so they would resemble my kids.
For the striped element......I used a Copic colorless blender and a ruler to make diagonal stripes on his shirt. Subtle, but effective. I really like how it came out.

To ground the images, I used some Copics to draw in grass and shadows. Then I mounted the main image onto a Soft Suede base with some patterns by BasicGrey. The patterned paper is from their Halloween collection, but I think it worked pretty well on this.

I finished it off with a rub-on sentiment and some mini leaves.

Mmmmmm.....pancakes

My haunted house was a HUGE success!! A little birdie even told me that it's the best one the school has ever had! After a month of planning, painting & prop making, I can finally kick up my heels and relax a bit.

And that's exactly what I did all weekend long. The weather here was windy, cold and rainy - and I loved every minute of it! It's finally starting to feel like Fall around here and I'm a happy girl because that's my favorite time of year. Every year around this time, my son and I like to try out different pumpkin recipes. We have a slight addiction to pumpkin anything. Over the weekend I made some delicious pumpkin pie pancakes and I thought I'd share the recipe with you. It's a vegan recipe, but feel free to substitute ingredients to your liking.

Pumpkin Pie Pancakes

1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
3 T sugar
1 T baking powder
1/2 t fine sea salt
1/4 t pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon
1 1/4 cups of vanilla soy milk
1/2 cup organic canned pumpkin
1 T corn oil

1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and pumpkin pie spice. Set aside.

2. In a blender, combine the soy milk, pumpkin puree and corn oil. Process until smooth and then add to the bowl of dry ingredients. Mix with a few strokes until combined.

3. Ladle 3 tablespoons of batter onto a hot oiled griddle for about 2 minutes and flip.

Serve with pure maple syrup or almond butter cream (recipe follows)

Almond Butter Cream

3 or 4 pitted dates
1/2 cup hot water
1 cup blanched almonds

Soak the dates in the water until soft. Place the dates and their soaking liquid in a blender, add the almonds, and blend until smooth and creamy. Store in the refrigerator, tightly covered, until ready to use, up to 1 week.

Pink Cat Digital Release Day!

Pink Cat Studio is releasing three new Fall images today!
I don't send many Thanksgiving cards, but I always like to give the teachers a little something before the school break.

This year my son will be giving this flameless candle to his teacher. Since it's flameless, I was able to decorate my little heart out and not worry about it melting down. The LED light in the candle flickers like a real candle and looks gorgeous.

I cut out the main image with a Nestability and then traced around the edge with a gold paint marker.
This is what the back of the candle looks like wrapped with yummy gold cord.

My daughter will be giving this little goodie box to her teacher.

I think we'll fill it with some homemade cookies.

My last project today is a 12 x 12 scrapbook page.

Every year, we make a giant pile of leaves in the yard and let the kids go crazy. They really look forward to jumping around in it and I always get a picture to capture the moment.

RUBBER release day at Pink Cat Studio!!

Melissa put so much great detail into this image. I decided to keep things simple and let the image be the focal point. Black, cream and a pop of pink.
