KWCC #34 and a paper piecing tutorial

Kristina just posted her next color challenge. Honestly, I think this was the hardest color challenge I've ever done!
Here's what I came up with...
I used my Round Tab punch by Stampin Up to create the spools of thread.
Cute, don't you think?

And I picked up these super cute scissor brads at the scrapbook expo last month specifically for this stamp set!

To create the dresses, I used a technique called "paper piecing". This is by far my favorite technique to use. It is so easy to do, but gives a great result.

Here's how you do it...
First, you'll want to choose what kind of paper you want to use. Normally I use a pattern, but I just wanted solid colors for my card today.

Stamp your image onto the paper or cardstock.

Then cut out the item you want to "piece".
I'm doing the polka dot dress in Sage Shadow for this one.

Cut out your image, leaving the stamped border.
This is what you'll have.

Since I didn't use patterned paper, I cuttlebugged a polka dot pattern to add a little dimension.

Then I repeated on Pale Plum for the other dress.

Then, just match up your cut outs to the original stamped image and adhere.

Voila! Two stylish gals!
