Hogs & Sketches

Today is the 30th and that means a new sketch over on the Hambo Challenge Blog! Here's the sketch....Here's what I came up with...
The bakery background is a brand new digital image and I only used a small portion of it. You can check out the whole thing right here - it's fabulous! And that little cutie holding the cupcake is "Wee Henry". He's the newest member of the Hambo family. I hope you'll take some time over the next few weeks and play along with our sketch. Be sure to hop on over to the challenge blog and see what the rest of the design team came up with.
Have a super weekend!

Holy Scrap it's Friday!

Do you remember life before kids? Here's a quick page I put together of some things that I never did until I was a Mom. I had LOTS of scraps to use up and the frames around my journaling were the perfect way to do that.

Tomorrow's the 30th, and that means a new sketch challenge over on the Hambo Hogs & Sketches blog! I'll be back tomorrow with a peek at the sketch and a sample.

Something masculine

Hey everyone! Thursdays are usually Pink Cat digital release days, but this week most of the design team went to CHA - lucky girls! We'll return next Thursday with lots of cute images that will definitely be worth the wait!

In the meantime, I thought I'd share a card that I made while at a Stampin Up stamp camp. This card uses Kraft, Chocolate Chip and Always Artichoke cardstocks, which are a great combination for a masculine feel. I used watercolor crayons to color the main image and then versamarked a dragonfly in the background.
The green layer behind the tortoise is actually a pocket that holds a tag with the sentiment. To balance out the card, a couple of brads were added to the top corner.

So....did any of you attend CHA? What was your favorite find? Can't wait to hear all about it!

Meet Charlotte

Yesterday was day two of the digi challenge over at The Greeting Farm. This is the image that they sent to us to use on our next card. Her name is Charlotte and as soon as I saw her, I thought of my friends daughter who is the spittin' image! She's away at college and I thought this would be something cute for her Mom to pop in the mail to her.

I used Melon Mambo cardstock and ribbon and some patterns by Memory Box. The headband, scarf and belt are paper pieced and I added some Stickles to her eyeshadow for a little sparkle.
That's it for me today. SO many things on my to-do list....

Mer Ian...

I'm sure most of you know about all of the digital fun going on at The Greeting Farm this week. Since many of my lucky readers are busy traveling to CHA this week, I thought it would be fun to goof off this week and play along.

The first image that they provided was Mer Ian...
Now, to be honest, I really wasn't crazy about the image when I first saw it. I mean...girl mermaids are totally cute, but boy ones? I dunno.....kind of tricky for me. I decided to keep the image small and the card super simple.
I popped up his hair on dimensionals and added lots of glitter to his tail.

This cute rub on sentiment is by October Afternoon. I thought it worked perfectly for this card. Have you been playing along? I'd love to see what you came up with using this image.

Ian Laddie

We had a cold and rainy weekend here in California. Perfect stamping weather. Here's a quick one that I put together for my hubby's golf buddy. I thought Ian Laddie would be perfect. And check out those brads.
Don't they look just like golf balls?!

If you're quick, you can grab Ian Laddie from the clearance bin over at TGF! Quick post today because I've got a date with 24 first graders this morning.
Hugs,

Holy Scrap!

A few months ago I discovered this blog with some really great scrapbook sketches. Earlier this week, she posted a new sketch and it was just the inspiration that I needed to FINALLY get my Halloween page finished! The background paper is by Fancy Pants.
For the title, I used some white "Thickers" and doodled a bit on them with a black pen. The orange panel that the title is on was actually a cream colored paper that I tore out of a notebook. To make it match my page, I used a brayer and covered the paper with SU Pumpin Pie ink. The pumpkins and bat are rub-ons by BoBunny.

I searched every bin, drawer and package in my workshop to find some candy shaped embellishments. I never found any, but then it occurred to me that I could make my own with a stamp set called "Tasty Sweet" that I got from SU last year.
I used Pumpkin Pie and More Mustard ink for the candies and then cut em' out and attached with dimensionals. And since Stickles make everything better, I covered the orange swirls in the background with diamond stickles. This page is super SPAR-KA-LAY in person.
Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great weekend.

Pink Cat Digital Release Day!

Today is my favorite day of the week, how about you?
New digis from the Pink Kitty! My first sample uses the luvbug image and sentiment.
A friend of mine gave me a bag of these black felt flowers and I've been dying to use them on something.
The stitching on the flower is actually neon green, so I colored over it with a red Copic marker to make it match my card.
Next is this cute little robot...
I found this fun patterned paper and decided that I had to color my robot orange. I really like how he turned out.
There are a variety of sentiments that you can put on his belly, so this image can be used for many occasions.

Next up is this cutie....
I think he's my favorite.
I added some glitter to a few chipboard stars and added the sentiment to the top of the card.
For the middle of the flower, I just pressed my Copic colorless blender to remove some of the ink. Instant polka-dots!

How about one for the girls?
I may have gotten a little carried away on this one.
I pierced a pattern and then hand-stitched some pink thread onto the heart.

Aren't these images fun? With all of the birthday parties that we have coming up in the next few months, I know that these cute robots are going to get LOTS of use! Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team came up with - they're amazing. And after you've checked out all of the samples, hop on over to the Pink Cat digi store so you can start playing with yours today!
Oh, I cleaned out my workshop over the weekend have lots of items that need a new home :-)

Thief of Hearts and a Hambo Welcome!

Check out this adorable new image only available at Hambo. He's called "Thief of Hearts" and you can find him right here. I found some heart shaped Peeps at the store a few days ago and decided to snatch them up and make something cute.
Here's a close up of the digital image. Isn't he great?

I'd also like to take this opportunity to welcome the newest member to the Hambo design team, Gloria Steiger. Gloria just so happens to be one of my dearest friends and one of my favorite people in the whole world. She'll be a great addition to the team. Stop by, check out her blog and say hello when you have a chance.

Totally Bitchin' Anya

Today is hubbys birthday. He's turning the big 4-0! This will be a super quick post because I still have a cake to bake and presents to wrap.

Here's a card that I whipped up recently just for fun...
I used the Rockstar Anya image from The Greeting Farm and some Halloween papers from BasicGrey.

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to check out my for sale page that I updated over the weekend.
