April Fools a day late and an April class sneak peek!

An April Fools prank on April 2nd isn't very funny, but I couldn't share this with you yesterday because it would have ruined the surprise!!

On the first Wednesday of the month, I attend a stamp club hosted by my friend Janice. Each month when we arrive, we do a card swap. Well........this year our stamp night landed on April Fools. I mean come on! How often does that happen?! And to make things better, there happens to be two other gals in the group who are JUST as mischievous as me! They contacted me a couple of weeks ago and asked if I wanted to join with them and make hideous cards for our swap. Heck yeah!!

Brace yourselves.......I really think the giant feather gives it that *WOW* factor, don't you think?! Yes, I have a giant bag of dyed feathers - don't ask.

Here are all my little beauties on their way to get swapped...
Okay, so after the laughter died down, we handed out our REAL swap cards.
This was mine...
As you can see, I decided to stick with the bird theme, however I decided to use cardstock instead of construction paper on these *insert evil grin here*.
This little cutie and all of the other images are from the Kim Hughes U R A Hoot collection.
This was Wanda's April Fool's swap....

And this was her REAL swap....

This was Katrina's April Fool's swap....
And this was her REAL swap....

Still with me?
Here's a little peek at one of the cards we'll be making in my class this weekend.
For this one, we'll be using SU's "Animal Crackers" and a sentiment from "Full of Life".

Thanks for coming by!
See ya tomorrow...

Another quickie!

Happy Thursday or "Survivor Night" as we call it in our house!

This is a card I made at stamp club earlier this month.
Janice provides a sample and all of the supplies and we get
to play. What could be better?

I like to take the supplies provided and make a totally
different card, so here's what I came up with... In addition to the yummy Baha Breeze ribbon, we also had
some pretty blue jewels to play with.

I've gotta run. My little one is still really sick and we've got
a Looney Tune marathon about to start!
Hugs,

Stamp Club Challenge

I'm in a fun Stampin Up club that meets once a month and at our last get together we were issued a challenge. We each got a piece of patterned paper that was die cut with the new SU "Top Note" die.
Here's the piece that I chose...This double sided paper is from the new Autumn Vine Designer Series collection from the Holiday Mini Catalog. I chose this particular pattern because the colors are WAY out of my comfort zone.

Being the strange little scramper that I am, I decided to use the negative part as well.
Here's what I came up with..
Isn't that little owl the cutest thing ever?!

He's from "Oliver & Friends" by Sassafrass and has been sitting on my shelf collecting dust for the last two months - tragic...I know. The sentiment on the bottom right is by Hambo and was perfect for this card. It was SO hard to not add ribbon to this, but when all was said and done, I didn't really think it needed it.
Now I just need someone to send this to....

Hugs,

CARDSTOCK: KRAFT, REALLY RUST, SAGE SHADOW
PATTERNED PAPER: AUTUMN VINE DESIGNER SERIES
INK: VERSAMARK, CHOCOLATE CHIP, REALLY RUST
MISC: PAPER PIERCER, FOAM DIMENSIONALS

Swap Time!

Last night was the monthly get together with my fabulous stamp club. Eight of us swapped cards and this was my contribution. These cute little penguins are from Imaginice and the surfboards were paper pieced with an image from SU's "Do The Hula". For the background paper, I ran some bashful blue though my Swirls Cuttlebug folder and added blue Stickles.
I colored his board shorts with my Sakura Glaze Pens and used lime green Fun Flock for her hula skirt. For those of you who haven't played with Fun Flock yet, here's a quick tutorial to get you started.

You can use any kind of adhesive for this. Fun Flock will pretty much stick to anything. Since some of the hula skirt had very fine lines, I opted to go with my Sakura Quickie Glue pen. It has a fine tip, just like a ball point pen and stays blue until it dries clear.

Before I do any gluing, I pour out a pile of Fun Flock so it will be ready for me when I need it. After the glue is applied, you'll quickly want to get it covered with Flock. In order to get a nice even coverage of Fun Flock, you'll want to "smoosh" your image into in, as opposed to just sprinkling it on top.
That's it! Super easy, but such a fun effect! And once this stuff is on, it doesn't rub off no matter how much you "pet" it.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you all have a fun and safe 4th!

Embossing on vellum

This is a card that I made at my monthly stamp club using an embossing technique on the backside of a stamped image on vellum. First we stamped the main image from the SAB "Merci" set onto a piece of vellum. Then we turned over the piece of vellum and used an embossing stylus to fill in the image. Just like you would do if you were coloring in the image, but here we used a stylus and made small circular motions to fill in the image. Interesting technique, however, it kind of makes the image "pop" up and a little difficult to adhere.

Kickstand Card

Here's another card I made at my club on Wednesday. I used Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive and the Bali Breeze pattern paper - love that stuff! For the envelope I used the new rub ons in the Sale-A-Bration mini catalog. I'm a HUGE fan of rub ons and thought I'd experiment a little and try something new. I used the white rub ons on a white envelope and then sponged over it with temping turquoise. I used a napkin to wipe off the ink from the rub ons and this is what was left. I really like the soft effect it left.

Stamp Club Card

I attended my monthly stamp club last night where we made three cards using floral sets for all of them. Now, I don't normally even give a floral set in the SU catalog a second look. They're just not my style and I usually seem to go for unusual, cute or humorous sets. Much to my surprise, my last two SU purchases have been floral sets - gasp! After seeing SO many beautiful samples with Fabulous Flowers and Embrace Life on SCS, I just had to get them and see what little creations I could come up with myself.

This card was made with the large flower from "Embrace Life", wild wasabi cardstock and the Spring Silhouettes pattern paper collection. The flower was clear embossed on pale blue, cut out, "stickled" and embellished with white halfback pearls from the Pretties Kit. Super quick and simple, but the pearls really add an elegant touch.

Stamp Camp samples

Hope you're all having a wonderful week. Just thought I'd do a really quick post to show some cards I made a couple of weeks ago at my first demonstrator only SU Stamp Camp. We used several of the new Sale-A-Bration sets, but these were the ones that I liked best.
