Instyle Challenges

Did you know that InStyle Stamps posts a new challenge every week?
And the best part?
You have an entire month to play along!
Check out the color challenge for March...

Definitely not my normal color palette, but with the Spring season just around the corner, these colors are perfect!  I used a brand new image from a set called, "Patty Bunny Wuv".
You have until April 11th, 2011 by 11:59 pm PST to enter. You could win either 1 or 2 digital stamps depending of if you use an InStyle Image or not.

And here's the Inspiration Challenge for March that was just posted today...

Here's what I came up with...
I used another image from the new "Patty Bunny Wuv" set and took the opportunity to practice my blonde hair coloring technique.

InStyle Stamps aren't required to play along with the challenge, but if you got em', use em'!  Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back tomorrow.

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long

Hope everyone is doing well on this beautiful Friday. I'm off to do Halloween parties in 2nd and 4th grade today. In 2nd grade we'll be making globes out of pumpkins and in 4th grade we'll be making care packages for our troops to send out for the upcoming Veterans Day holiday. I went through my card stash last night and picked out 30 cards to add to the care packages. It feels good to know that they'll be going to a good home and surprising a soldiers loved one in the mail.

Today is also challenge day over at the Christmas Stampin All Year Long blog! The assignment this week is to use purple and silver on your card. I absolutely love these colors for a holiday card. Here's what I came up with using all Stampin Up goodies.
The sponging technique was totally inspired by Michelle Zindorf and the snowflake was stamped with Versamark and popped up on dimensionals. For the silver requirement, I wrapped some yummy silver cording around the card base and adhered the trimmed ends beneath the main image panel.
I hope you'll play along with us this week. We've only got about another month of challenges and then we're all finished! Thanks for stopping by today. Have a super weekend and a Happy Halloween.

I pick you...

Embellish magazine.com issued a fun challenge this week.
Here's what I came up with using all kinds of MFT goodies...
The image is from an MFT set called "WTG Goes Green".

After I colored the image and paper pieced her outfit and basket, I used the "Fresh Cut Grass" die to add a couple of layers of grass beneath her feet.
Then I added a couple of mini daisies for a girly touch.

I added a sentiment across the top using the "Banner Day" die and tied some teeny tiny bows to place between the pennants.

There's still time if you want to play along!
Thanks for stopping by today. I'm off to hang out with thirty 4th graders.

Sneaking in a quick color challenge - 2nd post today

Hey Peeps!
Still on vacation, but I had this card that was PERFECT for Kristina's color challenge and thought I'd post it.
The owls and sentiment are from U R A Hoot by Kim Hughes and the patterned paper is by Scenic Route. There's a link to the stamp set on the post below.

Thanks for peeking!

Sneakin' in a quickie

While I was trying to come up with a quick masculine birthday card tonight, Kristina posted her color challenge just in the nick of time. My order of Pacific Point is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, so I substituted sort of a Blue Bayou shade instead. Here's what I came up with...

I used Basic Black for the base and a yummy new pattern I picked up from Creative Imaginations. The sentiment is from a retired SU set called "Alphabet Soup".

Here's another card that I did earlier this week using the same color scheme...

Thanks for peeking!
See ya tomorrow...

Color Challenge - 2nd post today

Kristina just posted her color challenge for the week and I was able to sneak in a few minutes to play along. Here are this weeks colors....

I just got "Trendy Trees" in the mail a few days ago and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to break it in. I made this card to send to my Grandma, so I wanted to keep it pretty simple.

It's kind of hard to tell from the picture, but the background patterned paper is pale yellow with white polka dots. The reverse side of the polka dot paper is the brown pattern that I used for the bottom of the card. I'm pretty sure the papers are from the "Candy Lane" pack by SU.

The sentiment on top is from a retired set and the yellow ribbon is from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. I also used that ribbon on the card in my post from this morning.

Gotta run - we're off to Taekwondo tonight.
Thanks for stopping by!
Be sure to check in tomorrow for another sketch challenge with Lauren and the rest of the team.

Color Challenge - 2nd post today

Here's Kristina's color challenge for today.
One of my fave combos - I couldn't resist. I gave myself 18 minutes to play.
Why 18?
Because that's how long the dye has to stay on my roots before I can wash it out!

Here's what I came up with...
This cute little guy and matching images are from Sassafrass. The sentiment is a rub on from Stampin Up.

I also added some mini pink roses from All Natural Accents. I wasn't planning on adding the second cloud, but when you drop a chocolate chip ink spot onto your card, you have to get creative.
But as I always say....There are no mistakes in my craft room, just embellishment opportunities!

She's a treasure and I want her to know it!

I had a very good friend call me yesterday with some upsetting news and wanted to send a card her way to let her know I was thinking of her.

When I saw Kristina's color challenge today, all I could think of was the cute pirate parrot from the "Ahoy Matey" set by Kim Hughes. Here's what I came up with...
I used a Sizzix die to make the jungle leaves out of green cardstock and felt.
Well, I'm off to pop this baby in the mailbox.
I'll be back tomorrow with a new recipe to Fool Your Family!

Little C's color combo

Hey kids! Are you ready for a challenge?
This weeks color combo is brought to you by Diva Designah Rina Farrer. Okay...I'll admit it. This was a tough one for me!
Here's what I came up with.
The base is Very Vanilla and the main panel is Wild Wasabi with a strip of red from the Bella Rose paper pack. I decided to go a little, ehem...I mean ALOT out of my comfort zone on this one and not use any stamps. Instead I used some Bazzill chipboard letters and embellished them with some rhinestones.

Are you up for the challenge??
You can leave a link to your creation and check out what the rest of the design team did by going to the Little C's blog.
Until tomorrow,

KWCC #38 - 2nd post for today

Kristina just posted her latest color challenge...Never being able to walk away from a challenge, here's what I came up with...
I cut the large heart out of pink cardstock with my Cricut "George" font and pierced around it.

The images and sentiment are from a Stampin Up set called "Just Jawing". After having it for a few months, I've finally inked it up and have been LOVING it!

Of course, I had to add some doodlebug sugar coating to the hearts for a little extra *pop*!

I really like how this turned out.
And the best part is that it took under 10 minutes!
