Feeling Sketchy

It's time for another challenge over at Christmas Stampin All Year Long!
This week I was feelin' a little sketchy, so I doodled up a little something for us to play with.
  Here's my take on it...
I used my favorite image from SU's "Winter Post" set.  I have NO idea why, but I just can't seem to get enough of this skating couple for some reason. (?)
I stamped the image with Sahara Sand ink and kept the rest of the colors clean and simple with a combo of Kraft and Very Vanilla.  I threw in a bit of gold cording and some pearls to finish it off.

I hope you'll play along with us this week.  There's a guest dt spot up for grabs!  For more inspiration, check out what the rest of the design team did with the sketch by clicking here.
Have a great weekend :-)

Hambo Challenge Time

This is my second post for today. If you're here to check out the new challenge from Christmas Stampin All Year Long, please scroll down to the next post.

April 30th - can you believe it?!
A new month is just around the corner and we've got a new challenge of "epig" proportions for you on the Hambo blog! I created the sketch for this challenge, so I'd love for you to play along with us. (You know....it would make me look good to the Hambo boss hog in charge .*wink*)Here's what I came up with...
This was the first stamp that I ever purchased from Hambo, and it's still one of my all time faves. It's appropriately called "Harvest Moon" and it's a great image to paper piece.
I used some patterns from BasicGreys "green at heart" collection and some yummy felt flowers by Stampin Up.
I finished it off with a fun little sentiment that I thought would be perfect for a gardener.

You can check out all of the juicy details and see what the rest of the team came up with right here. Thanks for stopping by today to visit me. Have a fantastic weekend!

A sketch challenge...

Welcome back! Did everyone survive the holidays? We had a great Christmas and Santa was soooo good to me. I guess I was a good girl this year :-) I got a Hello Kitty Sizzix Big Shot and tons of dies to go with it. I'm such a happy girl! I know, I know.....I'm the last person on the planet to get a Big Shot, but now I'm all set. I'm hoping that my new Big Shot and some new cartridges for my Cricut will help me get a jump start on my scrapbooking in the new year. I feel like my scrapbooking has taken a back seat to stamping over the last year, and I'm really excited about keeping up with it in 2010. I thought I might start using some sketches to get me started again. Do any of you know of any good sources for scrapbook sketches?? If you have any suggestions, I'd LOVE to hear from you!

Speaking of sketches, today is the 30th of the month and that means a new sketch challenge from the Hambo Challenge Blog! And guess what? This month I got to create the sketch! Here's what I came up with for you to play with...
So what do you think? I really hope you'll play along with us! The best part of the Hambo challenge is that you have an ENTIRE month to play and you can enter multiple times! Plus there's FREE STAMPS involved...need I say more?

Here's what I came up with for my sketch... I just adore this chubby little caterpillar! And can you believe that not a single Copic touched this card?! I decided to use the paper piecing technique on my plump little friend and his leaf.
I think he came out really cute.

To finish it off, I added some turquoise ribbon and tied a corduroy button to the bow.
I really hope my sketch inspires you to create something fabulous that you'll share with us! Be sure to leave a link on the challenge post for your chance to win.

That's why it's a challenge....

So this was the sketch challenge on Splitcoast last week.
Yikes?!
It was such a weird sketch that I almost didn't play along, but that's why it's a challenge right?
After some thought, I decided to give it a go.
Here's what I came up with...
Remember a set from an SU mini a long time ago called "Pattern of Friendship"? It's one of my most favorite sets that they've ever released and is a total keeper for me.

I used Close to Cocoa for the base and accented with Vanilla and Rose Red cardstock.

When I was thinking of ideas for my Christmas version of the sketch, I decided to flip the sketch 90 degrees. As soon as I did that, I saw an envelope shape and decided to just go with it.
Here's what I came up with...
I used Vanilla cardstock and SU's "Winter Post" stamp set.
Quick post today - I'm sick and need to get some rest.
Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back tomorrow with a new recipe to Fool Your Family.
Hugs,

My first oval

When I saw Jen's sketch this past weekend, I decided to play along because it was a layout that I had never done before. Here's what I came up with...
I used an image from House Mouse that hasn't seen ink a a really long time. Since the main image has a lot of detail, I decided to keep the rest of the card clean and simple by just using solid cardstock and avoiding patterned paper. I decided to go with Green Galore, Real Red, Very Vanilla and Close to Cocoa. To finish it off, I added some delicious red velvet ribbon and sponged Creamy Caramel along the edges of the Vanilla cardstock.

Here's the Christmas version that I did....
For this one, I gold embossed the poinsettia image from SU's "Spotlight on Christmas" set. Then I embossed a holiday sentiment along the bottom and added some ribbon from the Winter mini catalog.

Honestly....not my favorite card, but we all have a dud every once in a while right?

Until tomorrow...

Check out these sweethearts

Another day, another sketch! I'm on a roll people - what can I say?
This one was created by Amy.When I saw the large circle on the sketch, I crossed my fingers and hoped that my new "Sweethearts" by Pink Cat Studio would fit inside.

Voila!
Lily and Billy are always so much fun to color!

Sadly, I didn't have any flowers for the two accents on the side of the circle. Pathetic - I know. Don't worry, I'll be fixing that problem soon! Instead, I used a pink glittery heart from the Target $1 spot and a Heidi Swapp plastic flower shape.
And here's my Christmas version of the same sketch...
The image and sentiment are from this set by My Favorite Things.

That's it for me today. I'm off to school to cook a St. Patty's Day breakfast for my sons class.
See ya tomorrow!

I'm sticking to my deal!

As most of my regular readers know, I made a deal with myself last week. I've committed myself to create a Christmas themed card in addition to the "regular" cards that I do for every sketch challenge that I participate in. At this rate, I should have all my Christmas cards done by Halloween right?!

Here's the sketch I used today, courtesy of Taylored Expressions.

Here's what I came up with...
Did I go a little overboard? Perhaps.
Did I have a ton of fun making this? YES!

I picked up this little cutie by Whipper Snapper last summer and haven't inked it up until now. Tragic - I know! I was SO determined to use it for this sketch, that I had to "upgrade" my card to 6 x 6 to accommodate it. I used Bashful Blue for the base and mixed patterned papers from SU's Bali Breeze and Jersey Shore collections.

Here's what the inside looks like...
These little hand painted wood accents are from Michael's.

Here's my Christmas version using the same sketch...

This little cutie is ALSO by Whipper Snapper. I seem to be reaching for these guys alot lately.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Scramper's Saturday Sketch

I am SO glad that the weekend is finally here! And that means that it's also sketch time! Lauren needed to focus on her big announcement today, so I decided to draw up a sketch myself.
Here's the sketch I made...
And here's my card.
I decided to break in my very first Hanna set that I picked up in Hawaii at Little C's.
The card base is SU Kraft and all of the patterned paper is by BasicGrey. To make the panel behind Hanna, I tore a post-it note and sponged rows of dirt with Chocolate Chip ink.
If you decide to play along, be sure to leave a link here so I can check it out. And have no fear....Lauren will be back next week - promise!
