My sister-in-law/best friend of 17 years has a birthday coming up and she loves pirates.
If I could wrap up Orlando and Johnny for her, I would.
Pirate Billy by Pink Cat Studio was the next best thing! Isn't he just the cutest?
(I get to share this card with you BEFORE I give it to her, because she doesn't have a computer and she's never seen my blog) For today's card, I used the MFT sketch challenge.
I had a 12 x 12 sheet of double-sided cardstock by S.E.I that I wanted to get rid of....ehem.....I mean use. It's an old pattern called "Grandpa's Attic" that has been retired and sitting in my paper holder for quite awhile. I was determined to use the ENTIRE sheet for this card.
I decided to make the card a 6 x 6 square, which was a first for me.
I stamped out the image on Very Vanilla, colored it in with Copics and then mounted it on a piece of Bravo Burgundy. To add a little extra interest, I took brown thread and my paper piercer and hand stitched the border.

I stamped some of the other images from the set directly onto my SU twill ribbon.

For the "treasure map", I took a 5 x 5 piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and sponged the edges with Creamy Caramel. Then I went down to the kitchen turned on my propane stove and lit that sucker on fire! I did small sections so I could kind of "shape" my treasure map.
The red "x" brad is actually a medical + sign that I turned on it's side. I picked up a bag of them at a scrapbook expo last year to make some get well cards and never got around to using them.
