Kristina posted her color challenge just in the nick of time! I had a project I needed to get done today and I told myself that I'd do my project with whatever colors Kristina gave us.
Here's my entry for this week. I have a friend leaving in two days to go on her first cruise. A girl can't brag about her awesome summer vacation without a cute little photo album to whip out for everyone right? I thought this clear envelope album would be a nice little welcome home gift for her. What do you think?
Here's how you can make one of your own:
Take a 4 3/4" x 9 1/4" piece of cardstock and score it at 1" & 2".
Fold over at the 2" mark and apply adhesive to the 1" section.
Adhere a 6 1/4" x 4 3/4 piece of cardstock to the 1" section that you just put adhesive on. Fill the book with clear envelopes. That's it! Soooooooo simple! Now all you have to do is decorate and add a binding.
Here's what the inside looks like with 25 clear envelopes adhered inside.
Since my friend is going on a cruise to Mexico, I decided to decorate mine with a tropical theme. I used the shirt stamp from SU's "Do the Hula" and a Sizzix leaf die to piece together the palm tree. I ran a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock through my crimper for the trunk of the tree, but what's a palm tree without coconuts?? I punched some coconuts with my 1" circle, but they were WAY to big for my little ol' tree. I don't have any punches smaller than 1", so I had to get a little creative. I decided to try out my slit punch and see if I could get a small circle out of it. It worked!! Here's how I made my coconuts - I took a small piece of Close to Cocoa and punched it one time with the slit punch. Then I flipped over the cardstock so the slit was now facing down. I put the piece of cardstock back in and lined up the slit on the paper with the slit on the punch.
Voila! A coconut!
I sponged the coconuts with Close to Cocoa ink and sponged the leaves with Certainly Celery ink.
Just for comparison, here's a 1" circle on the left, and the scrap from the slit punch circle that I made for my coconuts.
Hope this was helpful. Thanks for popping by!
