A little anime

So is everyone still stuffed from Thanksgiving? too.
I used a couple of vegetarian recipes from The Pioneer Woman and they were DELICIOUS! And since my family was still eating left-overs all weekend, that meant more time for Mom to stamp!

Here's one of the cards I came up with... My friend let me borrow a couple of new stamps that she got from Sugar Nellie. You can see the other card I made here. Since I used so many colors on the first card, I decided to make this card look completely different.
I colored the main image with my grey Copics and just a hint of pink on her cheeks and the bow in her hair. I dug around in my black and white scrap bin (yes....I have my scraps organized by color) and was thrilled to find a small piece of patterned paper from an old collection by Love, Elsie. I thought it worked perfectly for the whole "anime" look that I was going for.

To finish it off, I did some hand stitching around the border and added some thick felt ribbon by Creative Imaginations and layered on a cute patterned ribbon on top.

This isn't my usual style, but I was really happy with how it came out. Sometimes it's hard to step out of your comfort zone, but give it a try sometime. You may surprise yourself!

Just poppin in to let you know that I'll be taking a mini break for the rest of this week. It's Thanksgiving week, my kiddos are out of school and I've got alot of things to pack into just a few days. For those of you in the US, I wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving. And for those of you brave enough to venture out on Black're crazy, but best of luck!
I'll be back on Monday.

Knocked Up?

My dear friend Gloria bought me this fantastic image for my birthday and I had to ink it up right away. Let me introduce you to Charlotte... Even though she's been sitting on my desk for almost a week now, I still giggle every time I look at her. Those giant crazy eyes remind me of Kari, the babysitter from The Incredibles.
As I was looking through all of my sentiments for the perfect one to use on this card, I came across my "Twisted Sentiments" set from My Favorite Things.
Oh admit's perfect!

Thanks for stopping by today.
I hope my weird little creation made you smile.

A cheerful Pixie

I have a friend who needed some MAJOR cheering up, so I grabbed the brightest papers I had and a cute image by CC Designs. I used Karen's sketch and came up with this... Isn't this little gal adorable?
She's officially known as "Heidi among the flowers". I added some orange jewels to her pig tail holders and some doodlebug sugar coating to the center of the flowers.
(super SPAR-KA-LAY in person) Here are a few more detail shots...

And these are the Copics that I used...
I think that's the brightest card I've made in a long time! Not my usual colors, but I think it made for a very cheerful card to perk up my friend.

Talented Friends

I've got two good friends who both had exciting news to share today.

First up, my friend Lauren has a HUGE announcement.
Click here to read all about it!

And in other news, my good friend Maria is the guest designer this week over at Character Cafe! As part of her guest design spot, she posted a sketch challenge. For those of you who know Maria, you know she creates THE BEST sketches! And for those of you who know me, you know I can never resist one of her sketches!

Here's what I came up with for her guest designer sketch challenge. My friend picked up this cute image (I think from Sugar Nellie) and I swiped it from her stamp room when I stopped by earlier this week. Isn't she adorable?
I used a green Copic marker to color some Scrappers Floss and then tied a button onto my ribbon.
And yes, this is another Japanese card for my mother-in-law. She watched the kiddos so my hubby could take me out to dinner for my birthday yesterday.
When you have a chance, stop by and wish Lauren good luck on her latest endeavor and then head on over the the Character Cafe Blog to join Maria's sketch challenge!
Thanks for coming by.

Friday Faves!

Today I decided to share some fun Thanksgiving ideas that I found on the web this week. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Fruit Gobbler centerpiece - this would be great to do with the kids!

This sounds like a yummy vegetarian side dish for me!

My kids will definitely be wearing these on Thanksgiving.

Apparently this is THE BEST turkey recipe in all the land.

Sweet potato balls - These are a tradition at my house. I roll them in chopped nuts instead of coconut.

Thanks for stopping by today. I'll be back on Monday.

This one's for Kale...

I was thrilled to hear that my design team pal Alicia gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on Friday! She and her family have been through so much this year and I was brought to tears looking at pictures of sweet little Kale. Here's the card that I popped into the mail for her. Making cards for boys can be tough - even if they're only 4 days old! No ribbon, no flowers, no glitter. Luckily Jen had a great sketch posted over the weekend and I came across an entire unopened case of SU hodgepodge hardware - perfect!

Here's a close up of this sweet digital image by Pink Cat Studio.
Aren't those little toes THE CUTEST?!

I printed out his name from the computer and punched it out with a small oval punch. Then I adhered it to the back of the metal frame and attached it all to a chipboard star.

Be sure to stop by Alicia's blog to give her some love and check out pics of her new cutie-pie!

A little surprise from the Pink Kitty!

Do any of these cuties look familiar? You may recognize these Lily images from a digital release that Melissa did not to long ago. Today Pink Cat Studio is releasing three “Lily in Winter” themed mini rubber stamp sets! Each set has 3 stamps which include a large Lily stamp, a small coordinating stamp and a sentiment.

My sister-in-law is going to be THRILLED because she doesn't have a computer - can you imagine? These will be a great addition to her rubber stamp collection, not to mention an AWESOME stocking stuffer for some of those special stampers on our Christmas lists!

Here are the samples I made when these were a digital release.
What a fun way to start the week!
Visit the PCS website to check them all out!
